V-rings overview

V-Rings are all-rubber axial shaft seals designed to protect bearings, oil seals, and rotating equipment from external contaminants such as dust, water, mud, and grease. Unlike conventional radial shaft seals, a V-Ring rotates with the shaft while its flexible sealing lip lightly contacts a stationary counterface, creating an effective barrier against contamination with minimal friction. They are widely used in electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, agricultural machinery, and industrial drive systems.

V-Rings are often selected as a primary exclusion seal or as additional protection for existing rotary shaft seals.
Excellent Contaminant Exclusion
The flexible sealing lip effectively blocks dirt, moisture, slurry, and airborne particles from reaching bearings and lubrication systems, helping extend equipment service life.
Low Friction, Low Wear
Unlike many contact seals, V-Rings generate only light contact pressure against the counterface, reducing friction, heat generation, and shaft wear during continuous operation.
Compensates for Shaft Misalignment
Because the seal body stretches over the shaft, V-Rings can tolerate moderate shaft eccentricity, vibration, and misalignment without significantly affecting sealing performance.
Simple Installation
V-Rings require no springs or metal reinforcement. They simply stretch over the shaft, making installation and replacement fast without complex machining or special tools.
Options
We offer three styles (VA, VC,
VS and VL) and three materials for V-rings: NBR (black) and FKM (brown).

VA : This is the most widely used standard model, with a wide size range, from 2.5 mm to 1810 mm in inner diameter. This model features a short installation length, compact structure, and is suitable for dustproof sealing of shaft ends in gearboxes, motors, and various drive devices.
VC: The dimensions of VC oil seals are marked using the standard method of shaft diameter × outer diameter × width, with the unit uniformly in millimeters (mm). This is a globally accepted industrial marking standard.
VS : With an inner diameter range of 4 mm to 180 mm, it offers strong dimensional accuracy and adaptability, and is primarily used for shaft end sealing applications in agricultural machinery and the automotive industry.
VL :This series of products has an inner diameter ranging from 99 mm to 540 mm, features a short installation length, can meet the needs of sealing space constraints, and can also be used as part of a labyrinth sealing system.

How to Select the Right V-Ring
Match the Shaft Diameter
V-Rings are installed by stretching over the shaft. Selecting the correct shaft size ensures adequate sealing force without excessive installation stress.
Consider Rotational Speed
At very high shaft speeds, centrifugal force can reduce lip contact pressure. Selecting the appropriate profile and material helps maintain sealing effectiveness in high-speed applications.
Evaluate Environmental Conditions
Consider exposure to:
- Dust
- Water
- Mud
- Oil mist
- Cleaning chemicals
- UV and ozone
Proper material selection significantly improves seal durability in harsh environments.
Check Available Installation Space
If axial installation space is limited, compact profiles such as VL may offer a better solution than standard VA designs.
