High-Visibility O-Rings
High-visibility O-rings are easy to spot, significantly improving maintenance efficiency.

Downhole caisson tools are repeatedly used in well completion operations. Each time the tool is pulled to the surface, it must be thoroughly cleaned and fitted with new O-rings to ensure uninterrupted use next time. If the tool isn't fully submerged in the plug, part of the plug and the tool must be retrieved from the well, delaying completion and incurring significant recovery costs. Furthermore, if not all O-rings are replaced, inadequate sealing can prevent the caisson tool from functioning properly.
The operations supervisor’s biggest headache is ensuring all O-rings are replaced correctly. Because ordinary NBR and Viton® O-rings are black, wear is difficult to spot. Therefore, high-visibility O-rings are now used in downhole operations—green for NBR and yellow for Viton®. These O-rings are easily visible even from a distance, making it easy to confirm replacement and preventing omissions or incorrect material usage.

Not all high-visibility O-rings are manufactured using the same process.
KODA’s high-visibility O-rings boast a unique manufacturing process: a black elastomer base with a uniformly coated high-visibility Teflon® layer. This coating process does not negatively impact the physical properties or chemical stability of the O-ring.
Regarding product selection, high-visibility green is used for nitrile rubber (NBR) with a Shore A hardness of 90; high-visibility yellow is used for genuine fluororubber (Viton®) with a Shore A hardness of 90. Furthermore, we can customize high-visibility O-rings in almost any color to meet individual customer needs.
Another type of process achieves vibrant colors by adjusting the rubber compound formulation, but this method may affect the core performance of the O-ring, especially its compression set—the ability of the O-ring to return to its original shape after being subjected to changes in time and temperature. To verify this conclusion, we commissioned an independent third-party laboratory to conduct comprehensive testing on the process of “achieving high color intensity by changing the compound composition.” Experimental results clearly show that adjustments to the rubber compound formulation negatively impact the compression set performance of O-rings.
Choosing KODA high-visibility O-rings allows for efficient verification of tool installation and repair status while ensuring the core sealing function remains unaffected. For product details or a quote, please call +86 18730921709 or submit a product inquiry form.
