Square Rings Overview
Square rings are a special type of sealing element with a circular shape when viewed from above and a regular square cross-section. These seals are also known as gasket rings or machined rings. The core advantage of using square sealing rings in sealing applications lies in their larger sealing contact area, while maintaining a cost comparable to similar sealing devices. For existing applications, using square sealing rings requires no modification to the original equipment design or manufacturing process; they can be directly installed into standard O-ring grooves, offering complete dimensional compatibility and interchangeability.
Square sealing rings offer a wide range of material choices, including nitrile rubber (NBR), fluororubber (Viton), ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM), and polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon), among others. In most static sealing applications, square sealing rings can directly replace O-rings, and under high-pressure sealing conditions, their performance is typically comparable to, or even superior to, O-rings.
