KODA U-shaped seals come in two main styles: straight lip and beveled lip, both designed for different industrial applications. Understanding the key differences between the two products is crucial for ensuring optimal sealing performance and maximum service life when selecting the right one.

Straight lip U-shaped seals are ideal for high-pressure applications. Their design allows for a uniform, close-fitting seal with the cylinder wall, creating a robust sealing barrier that maintains excellent sealing stability even under high pressure. Therefore, they are widely suitable for heavy machinery and other applications where the seal is relatively stationary and must withstand high pressure loads. It’s important to note that the strong pressure resistance of the straight lip structure can lead to increased friction, potentially accelerating wear if used in applications where the seal is in continuous reciprocating motion.

Beveled lip U-shaped seals are designed for highly dynamic operating environments. The beveled lip significantly reduces the contact area with the sealing surface, effectively lowering the coefficient of friction and resulting in smoother operation. This characteristic is critical in high-speed applications such as pneumatic systems, where low friction is essential for maintaining seal integrity and system efficiency. However, it should be noted that the sealing performance of the beveled lip design will be reduced under low pressure conditions; at the same time, if the positioning is not correct during installation, it is more prone to displacement risk compared to the straight lip design.
